This photographic story is a journey into the pain of cities that have lost their wonderful riches, into the humanity of the heroes who help their inhabitants to survive and live in this harrowing context, into the looks and smiles of the people who accept this help with dignity, into their admirable resilience, into the mosques and monasteries that have managed to preserve their splendor, into the history - that takes us back to the first century - of which the stones and columns of the remaining temples speak to us, Unesco heritage sites.
Into a country that cannot and must not be abandoned or forgotten.
The first stop is Syria.
A route that starts from its capital, Damascus and continues through the cities of Palmyra, Aleppo, Homs, Maaloula.
