Like “Cartago delenda est”: Cato urged about Carthage which was razed to the ground to prevent risks for the Roman Empire, in the 2nd Century BC. Agdam had the same fate, a real urbicide.
Its methodical and complete destruction had the purpose of not allowing any Azerbaijani to return to live there and of erasing the city’s cultural and historical heritage and its memory permanently.
In the following months, after Agdam, I visited the cities of Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Zangilan, Shusha. Many cities in Karabakh have suffered the same fate of destruction. The deep and strong feelings I went through pushed me to hold my camera and narrate all this to never forget the “Damnatio memoriae” inflicted to the entire region. Agdam and the Karabakh’s territories must have their life back.
